Chelmsley Wood Primary Care Centre

 

Bosworth Medical Centre is situated inside the Chelmsley Wood Primary Care Centre and provides a full range of general family health services. We offer a wide variety of up-to-date diagnostic and therapeutic services in a modern, light and friendly environment and are very ably supported by our nursing and reception staff.

 

There is suitable access for patients with disabilities.

 

Please note: Bosworth Medical Centre is only one of the many health organisations operating inside the Primary Care Centre. Each organisation is independent but each provides their health services to the community at one convenient location, inside the Chelmsley Wood Primary Care Centre. 

 

 

NHS Patients, staff and visitors must continue to wear face coverings in healthcare settings

England’s Chief Nurse has today reminded the public that everyone accessing or visiting healthcare settings must continue to wear a face covering and follow social distancing rules.

Covid restrictions will end in many settings in England from Monday.

However, Public Health England’s infection prevention control guidelines and hospital visiting guidance are set to remain in place for all staff and visitors.

That means NHS visitor guidance will stay in place across all health services including hospitals, GP practices, dental practices, optometrists and pharmacies to ensure patients and staff are protected.

Staff, patients and visitors will also be expected to continue to follow social distancing rules when visiting any care setting as well as using face coverings, mask and other personal protection equipment.

The NHS will continue to support staff in ensuring that the guidance is followed in all healthcare settings.

DEAR PATIENTS, AS PER ABOVE GUIDANCE  WHEN ENTERING OUR BUILDINGS AND SEEING OUR CLINICIANS,  WE WILL REQUIRE YOU TO KEEP TO DISTANCING RULES AND TO WEAR A MASK (unless you are exempt).

General Practice Data Planning and Research

The current NHS Digital (NHSD) extract of GP data for Research purposes (known as the GPDPR) has been delayed due to NHSD wishing to review the way in which this data will be collected, to conduct more public involvement and information about the plans and change the way in which patients can opt out of the extract of their GP data.

Currently the only way to opt out is to complete a Type 1 opt out form and return this to the practice by the 1st September.  However, this extract will not be taken until the NHSD have changed the way it will take the data and respect the patient’s choice for using their data.  NHSD are introducing the following changes to the opt out process which will mean that patients will be able to change their opt-out status at any time::-

•          Patients do not need to register a Type 1 opt-out by 1st September to ensure their GP data will not be uploaded.

 

•          NHS Digital will create the technical means to allow GP data that has previously been uploaded to the system via the GPDPR collection to be deleted when someone registers a Type 1 opt-out.

 

•          The plan to retire Type 1 opt-outs will be deferred for at least 12 months while we get the new arrangements up and running and will not be implemented without consultation with the RCGP, the BMA and the National Data Guardian.

This means that you can opt out at any time in the future and NHSD will delete data that they already have taken for research purposes, the deadline of the 01/09/2020 has been delayed until a new system of opt out is developed.  Hopefully, this will be a simple centralised approach via the NHS app or NHS website to avoid paper form and administration work for your GP.

 

 

We will update you when we know more about the NHSD plans to change how you can control who has access to your data.

 

 

Coronavirus Information

 

NHS Birmingham and Solihull CCG and local GP practices are encouraging all local people to stay alert and follow official COVID-19 guidance.

 

To stay safe and slow the spread of COVID-19 in Birmingham and Solihull, local people are being encouraged to keep their distance from others, wash their hands regularly for 20 seconds, do not meet in large gatherings and to wear a face covering.

 

Local people must also book a test immediately if they have any of the main symptoms of coronavirus. They are:

 

·         A high temperature

·         A new, continuous cough

·         Loss or change in sense of smell or taste

 

If they have any of these symptoms, they can book a COVID-19 test by calling 119 or online at: http://nhs.uk/coronavirus

 

CHANGES TO HOW YOU ACCESS YOUR GP SERVICES 

 

Due to the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation, the way you access your GP practice has changed. 

 

You must now telephone your GP practice – DO NOT attend in person. 

 

Your GP practice will then arrange the best care for you depending on your need.  This will likely be a phone call or video call.

COVID VACCINATION CENTRES

 

Now that more doses of Covid-19 vaccines are available, the NHS is able to open more vaccination services, including the first Vaccination Centres.

 

People who are eligible and who live near these new vaccination services will receive letters from the NHS Covid-19 Vaccination Booking Service, telling them how they can book their appointment.

 

The NHS is rolling out additional services quickly, but it remains important that the public don’t try to book or go to these services before they receive their booking letter.

 

And when you do book an appointment, please make sure you attend.

You may receive a letter from the national NHS Covid-19 Vaccination Booking Service inviting you to book an appointment at a regional Vaccination Centre, the closest of which is at Millennium Point in Birmingham
 
 

If you receive the letter from the national service and can travel to the Vaccination Centre safely, we recommend that you book using the details the letter provides.

 

If you are unable or don’t want to go to a Vaccination Centre, you can choose to wait and get your vaccination here which is the local vaccination hub for patients in this area.

 

We have started vaccinating patients over the age of 80 years of age and are inviting people in according to the criteria and prioritisation set by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI), and will contact you when it’s your turn.

 

Like the rest of the NHS we are working to offer vaccines to everyone in the top priority groups by the middle of February.

Merger with Chester Road Surgery

 

We are pleased to inform our patients that Chester Road Surgery and Bosworth Medical Centre have now  merged as of  6th July 2021.  

 

Chester Road Surgery will become a branch of Bosworth Medical Centre.

We are proud of our practice and the personal care we have maintained over the years and have always been touched by the positive feedback and support from our patients. We are pleased that our teams will be uniting and will continue to provide care for you.

 

Our vision is to deliver an efficient healthcare service to meet the changing needs of our local population.  We aim to improve access for our patients so that they are able to see a Clinician with the right expertise to deal with their problem. We feel the best way of achieving this is through innovative working with collaboration of staff with a mix of different skills.

Why are you merging practices?

 

As we are sure you are aware in recent years, there has been increased pressure placed upon General Practice, with a growing population, the growth in patients with long term conditions and the need to move more work from hospitals into the community. General Practice needs to expand and innovate to absorb this increased workload and strain. We believe that the best way to offer our patients a safe, caring, sustainable and quality service into the future is by a merger.

 

What does the merger mean for patients?

 

·         Improvements to the overall range and quality of services to patients.

·         Improved access to more clinical staff for patients.

·         Improved patient choice and increased GP and nurse availability.

 

How will this merger affect my care? 

 

·         There will be no reduction or detrimental effect to the services that you receive.

·         You can continue to see the same doctors and nurses that you see at the moment.

·         We will continue to operate at our current address.

·         You will have a wider choice of which doctor to see.

 

How will you provide enough appointments?

 

The practice team will regularly review the number of available appointments, GP and nurse appointments will not be reduced.

 

Do I need to re-register with my GP?

 

You will not need to do anything; the merger has no effect on your registration and your entitlement to NHS care. if you do not wish to remain with the merged practice you are free at any time to register with another GP practice, provided you live within their catchment area.

 

How are you planning to keep patients informed of the progress of the merger?

 

Updates will be available on the website, posters in the waiting room and text alerts. Check that we have an up-to-date mobile number to ensure you receive important text alerts.

 


  

North Solihull Collaborative Extended Hours Service

 

Please note: This service has been temporarily put on hold while we focus on delivering the COVID-19 vaccination programme.

The usual service will be for prebooked appointments, booked by your GP practice between Monday and Friday. There is no telephone access on Saturday or Sunday.

Mon-Fri: 6.30pm-8pm

Sat: 9am-12pm
