Travel Health
Do you need vaccinations?
If you are travelling abroad and require vaccinations you will need to complete a travel risk assessment form and contact the surgery at least two days later to make an appointment for your vaccinations.
Some courses of vaccinations take two or three months to complete so please take this into consideration when planning your journey.
Select the region you are travelling to find out more.
Travel Assessment
If you are travelling abroad please complete and submit the travel form in plenty of time (we recommend 6-8 weeks) before your journey.

Travel Appointment Information
Travel Appointment consultations are sometimes longer than a usual appointment. This is because the following points are discussed when a patient is seen.
1. Aspects of their previous and current general health which may affect their travel plans and whether or not they should receive any vaccines.
2. The travel history must be taken including destination, length of stay, type of trip and activities to be undertaken when away. These factors determine the disease and health risks that they are in danger from.
3. Advice on disease prevention, including those illnesses and hazards which cannot be prevented by a vaccine.
4. Decision on the vaccines required and recipt of some or all these injections on the first visit (sometimes up to 4 vaccines).
5. Advice on malaria prevention if appropriate.
6. Travel record card to be completed and given with travel health information leaflets. Preparation of a private prescription for some types of malaria tablets.
Most travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge.
